The film features Haraway in a playful and engaging exploration of her life, influences, and ideas. Best-known for her ground-breaking work on gender, cyborgs, animals and post-colonialism, Haraway is a passionate and discursive storyteller with a curious and nimble mind. Story Telling For Earthly Survival is a clever and insightful glimpse into the thoughts of a major contemporary figure.
For this screening, we will be joined by Eliot Jones-Garcia, a PhD candidate at the Mixed Reality Lab of the University of Nottingham. His work explores the design of digital platforms as a forum for agricultural extension, and their promise to give voice to farmers in the theory and practice of sustainability. In an era of increasing climate despair, Harraway's attempt to re-conceptualise technology, culture and nature offers some light in it's call to imagine and build more just environmental futures.
